Established in March 1979 along Uganda road next to the Post
Office in Eldoret town, Eagle Hardware started as a small outfit
to mainly serve customers in the construction industry. As the
demand for construction materials and electronics increased
the company moved next to Eldoret Farm Machinery which
served as a store as well, before moving to two Godowns on
Arap Kitongo road near the Kenya power & lighting station.
As space and parking for customers became limited along
Uganda road, the firm put up a 20,000 square feet shop
with basement on Sosiani Street in 1992/93 to enhance
service delivery and customer expediency. Today the firm is a
household name in Eldoret and its environment growing into a
one stop shop for construction materials and equipment as well
as electronics.
Eagle Hardware association with Crown Paints began in the
80’s, when very few paint companies existed as compared to
today. At that time it was only Crown Paints that dealt with PVC
waste pipes and fittings known as Key Terrain.
Today Crown Paints not only sells paints but have diversified
the whole paint industry into other associated products such
as wall protectors and decorative finishers; Dr. Fixit and granite
marble slabs which they supply to Eagle Hardware to satisfy the
growing market.
Since the partnership with Crown Paints, which has spread over
the years, the benefits have been huge ranging from enhancing
a cordial relationship to greater heights with contractors and
architects through training programs and seminars on both
usage and newly introduced lines.
The corporation between the two firms has developed more
awareness among customers on quality products and services
through continued offers and promotions. The relationship
between the two companies has seen a Modern Crown
Showroom one of a kind in the region being hoisted in Eagle
Hardware premises.
On the busy Obote road in Kisumu town, one cannot fail to notice
Jubilee Jumbo Hardware Ltd as it is synonymous with a large
number of people frequenting in and out of the hardware to buy
various merchandise. Started in 1990 by Indravadan Ashabhai
Patel with about ten employees, today it boasts of over 300
employees and is still growing!
The firm deals and specializes in hardware and building materials
such as galvanized wire products, white cement, nails, paints,
boards, tools and other items fromwithin and outside the country.
In 1992, it started purchasing Crown Paints with the aim of selling
it to their customers both at wholesale and retail levels.
Steadily, the business between the two firms has been on the rise,
resulting in tremendous growth in sales. Jubilee Jumbo is now
one of the largest dealers of Crown Paints in the Western region.
The corporation has also facilitated the growth of Crown Paints
in the market thus helping it to maintain its leadership position in
the industry.
As part of the relationship building, Crown Paints offers great
discounts and more repayment time for goods and services
supplied. Currently the two firms are inseparable to the extent
that at times some donations from Crown Paints to needy cases
go through Jubilee Jumbo. The firm’s expansion strategy has
seen it spread its wings to other towns such as Kitale, Bungoma,
Mombasa, Mumias, Eldoret, Kakamega, Bungoma, Webuye, Kisii,
Oyugis, Migori, Homabay, Kericho, Busia, Litein, Maseno, Bondo,
Ugunja and Isebania with an eye on the entire country.
