Crown paints was accorded the prestigious
OHSAS
18001:2007
certification,
an
internationally recognized standard for
occupational health and safety management
system by Bureau VERITAS Certification
Kenya limited, after successfully passing a
comprehensive and rigorous two stage audit.
The certificate was officially presented to
RakeshRao, theGroupCEO, Crown Paints, on
November 21, 2014, by Amos Orwa, Business
development manager-Bureau VERITAS,
at an event held at the Crown Paints Head
office. Mr. Orwa congratulated Crown Paints
staff and management on attainment of the
OHSAS 18001:2007 certification. “We are
very positive Crown Paints (K) Limited will
use the newly acquired status and knowledge
as a tool to improve and enhance safety in
work place,” he added.
MILESTONE
The OHSAS 18001:2007 adds to the list of
certifications which have been accorded
to Crown paints Kenya limited i.e. ISO
9001:2008 (Quality Management System)
and
ISO
14001:2004
(Environment
Management System) hence making Crown
paints the first paint company not only in
Kenya but East and Central Africa to achieve
this certification! This new goal reached by
the company closes a course started by
Crown Paints few years ago , which lead to
the achievement of the ISO 9001-Quality
Management System certification, then
followed by the ISO 14001 Environmental
Management System certification.

shows the importance, dedication and
commitment Crown paints Management
has on the issues of health and safety of the
employees and at the same time going above
and beyond to respect the work environment.
” remarked Jesse Jackson, the Management
representative, He added that.“It’sthroughthe
embrace of team work that the whole process
wasasuccess.”
With this latest achievement, Crown paints
becomes more and more reliable, with its
production process controlled now that
Manufacturing activities and operations
are carried out in a safer and healthier
environment. We are very proud to have
achieved this challenging certification,” said
Mr. Rao.” It has taken significant effort and
dedication to work throughout the process of
certification. Although we have always prided
ourselves on improving and measuring our
achievements against our goals relative to
environmental management, and employee
health and safety, this certification is proof
of compliance and brings further credibility
to our social responsibility, good stewardship
and good citizenship associated with leading
corporations in the world.”
Mr. Rao added that the certification can
facilitate bid compliance especially with
government contracts, and helps assure
employees, customers, suppliers, regulators
and the community at large that the company
values, cares and is concerned about health,
safety and the environment.
ROAD AHEAD
Crown Paints is now focused on continuously
improving of the safety, health, environment
&
quality
performance
to
enhance
sustainability. Currently the organization is
geared toward the implementation of the
Energy Management System (ISO 50001)
and upgrade of Quality Management System
ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 version.
