CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
CSR continues to be a
hallmark for Crown Paints
Over the years, corporate social responsibility has
been at the heart of our success. In the current
business environment, it is no longer just about
how much a corporate entity makes in revenues.
The environment within which a company operates
is equally as important. The sustainability of an
organisation depends on how well it manages
to balance its economic goals and ambitions as
well as its interaction with the society. And as we
celebrate 10 editions of Brushstrokes, we continue
to seek more ways to be impactful in the society
through sports, education or environmental issues.
In the last quarter, we participated in a number of
corporate social initiatives that included the re-
painting of schools. Led by Nilesh S. Gosavi, the
Acting Group Marketing Manager, we joined hands
with members of Stand Up and Shout Initiative.
Mr. Gosavi presented the paint to the Stand Up
and Shout Initiative founder, Peter Frederick Moll and together with the Crown staff who had accompanied him spent the
rest of the day painting and having fun with the pupils at Kibera Primary School.
We invested in destitute and underprivileged children through feeding programs, talent development, school fees support
and transformation of learning environment.
As part of our commitment to support the needy in society and enhance the environment in which we operate, we have
joined hands KANBIS by donating towards projects that will ensure the support of girl child education and transformation
of learning environments.
In the same period, we were able to partner with Women for Cancer Early Detection to address the stigma associated with
cancer through educative communication campaigns and early cervical cancer testing.
It was also an honour for the Crown Paints family to donate paint under CSR for model houses for Her Excellency Mrs. Rael
Ruto’s Housing Project. The housing project is under the umbrella of Joyful Women Organization (JoyWo) which operates
in 44 out of the 47 counties so far. The project was initially championed in Uasin Gishu and Nandi Counties but will spread
nationwide.
In sports, we sponsored the Vintage Football Academy to participate in the 2015 edition of Nottingham International Cup
to the tune of Ksh160,000. The five-year old football academy has previously participated in two international football
tournaments. Other sports projects sponsored include: KANBIS cricket, Box cricket, Rhino charge and Junior Golf.
