MEN AND COLOUR

SHADES
Fashion and colour keep on oscillating over the years. The 60’s were when many fashion
traditions mirroring the evolution in style of what is clearly happening around the world
today. Male fashion of the 60’s was dominated by change and progress. There was
a clear departure from the simple crisp looks of decades past, as the 60’s began to
create a newer approach to style and fashion. Up until this point, men’s fashion had
been quite formal. So pronounced were the changes in style that it was impossible
not to notice how the conservativeness of decades past has given way to a much more
energetic and lively way of dressing.
This was a time when the British music
scene enjoyed immense popularity,
Artists such as ‘The Beatles’ brought
with them so much more than music.
They transformed the conservative
business suit into a clean, straight cut
and generally more stylish wardrobe
essential. They embraced slimmer suits
with narrowed pants, super tailored
shirts leaving the wearer with a much
sleeker silhouette. As the decade
progressed, this group embraced a more
casual approach to their look and began
wearing turtlenecks and accepting
more colours in favour of their earlier all
black stage outfits. These kinds of mod
styles may well stand out as one of the
decades more influential look, and even
today these details still inspire men’s
fashion designers.
As we progressed on men began
gravitating towards vibrant colours
and borderline unbearable prints such
as paisley, floral and polka dots among
others. Jewellery designers joined the fray and began creating collections specifically for men. This new-found freedom in fashion and
colours may have seemed quite experimental at first, but it soon became the norm and men all over the world began to embrace this
way of dressing with enthusiasm and a new appreciation for male style.
Men’s passion for colour is developing each day; they are now coming out of their comfort zones and embracing trends that are rich in
colour. They are getting more colourful as a sign of confidence and a statement to elaborate new way of dressing.
You might want to think twice before you fall back to a basic black outfit every day. You may believe it looks fashionable and
sophisticated, or maybe you’re wearing it because it’s just plain easy. But black could also be signalling to your co-workers and friends
that you’re perhaps depressed, unimaginative, dark-spirited and or just lazy. The wave of fashion and colours is sweeping across the
world, a modern man is willing to take risk and discover something either new or the old fashion that no nobody remembers. When
walking around the city, you can’t fail to notice a number of people dressed in fitting suits, coloured socks and marching label. These
are not only exclusive looks that appeal to a modern but also expresses self confidence and a sense of taste. These are appearances
that would have attracted a lot of criticisms and scorn from a horde of people some years back! Top industry leaders, corporate
executives and managers are embracing these trends as a statement. The modern man has come out gun blazing and ready to take
on the world with fashionable designs full of colours.
Men’s passion for colour is developing each day; they are now coming out of their comfort zones and embracing
trends that are rich in colour. Remember colour is a powerful visual stimulator that could send a message
without saying a word.
