to remain successful. Customers are
increasingly demanding a one stop
solution for their various needs that meet
environmental, health and safety standards.
As clients demographics and needs change,
so does the company’s passion to excel
and meet those needs. Crown paints has
perfected this art over the years through
innovations that stand out in the market.
This determination has earned the company
an ISO 14001:2004 certification for the
protection of the manufacturing process and
involves adopting environmentally friendly
strategies of paint and resin production
with the sole aim of preventing pollution and
waste generation while complying with all the
environmental regulations.
Toachieve this, thefirmhasa fullyoperational
automatic effluent water treatment plant
that neutralizes the content before disposal
as the waste is treated and reduced.
The company has also invested in a dust
exhausted system that removes dust and
fumes generated during production activities
thus eliminating the effects associated with it.
With focus on the environment conservation,
the company carries out duly staff trainings
on Environmental Management System
related courses, health and safety, risk
assessment, noise surveys, air quality
monitoring, periodical effluent and storm
water analysis. presently the company is
working towards achieving an OHSAS 18001
–Health and Safety management system.
According to the Group CEO Rakesh Rao,
paint has been for a long time regarded as
an occasional commodity product. However,
he argues all that has changed as it fulfils the
role of changing lifestyles through various
colour schemes. It can createmood, increase
productivity, and add to the health and safety
dimension. He says products that have been
accepted as standard are now declining due
to their environmental effects.
As a result this forced the company to change
tact and begin production of paints that are
environmentally friendly and meet internal
green working practices.
As part of appreciating the environment
under which the company operates, it has
initiated a number of programmes that
transform lives of many people. These
programmes range from clean environment
through painting of schools, churches,
national monuments to beautification of
cities and towns. Other activities include
road mapping, planting of trees among
others. These programmes are undertaken
with strict adherence to all applicable
environmental regulations requirements
through implementation and maintenance
of a structured environmental management
system based on the continual improvement
of the environmental performance.
