MESSAGE FROM THE
GROUP CEO
Dear friends, colleagues and valued customers,
First and foremost I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all
my friends, colleagues, partners and valued customers for your steadfast
support in building Crown paints to a greater pinnacle. As an industry
leader in the region, we are committed to setting standards through paint
innovations and technology that positively impact communities whom
we serve. Our commitment to quality products, innovative paints, new
technical paints and enhancement of Kenyans’ lifestyle are our core pillars
that define our success. Since 2014 we have launched new innovative
paints and products such as Silicone, Africa’s first water repellent and self-
cleaning paint, Crown Sparkling texture – Glass plaster, a fashion finish that
has a shiny effect in sunlight, not forgetting the Crown Colour App. which
enables users to navigate through more than 1,000 colours and search for
any colour by name and code in the ambience colour chart.
As a market leader our growth trajectory has seen another milestone this
year, when we officially unveiled a state-of-the-art plant in Kisumu County
as part our strategic move to tap into the region’s robust construction
industry. The new plant located along Bondo – Busia junction is 70%
automated with a production capacity of 1.2million litres of paint per month
will not only cut down operations costs significantly, but also strengthen
our market dominance and exploit the growing construction and real estate
market in the Western region. The region plays a significant role of Crown
paints market as it provides over 40 percent of the sales, and therefore
establishing a new plant in the region centrally placed will not only enhance
efficiency, but also improve sales due to the rapid growth and development
of the area.
As the region experiences rapid growth in the construction industry and
opening up of the East African market, we anticipate the revenues from
paints and coatings industry in Kenya and Tanzania to rise from USD123.3
million to USD188.5 million by the year 2018. We believe with setting up
of new plant in western region, Crown paints will be in a better position
to gain a good size of the market share in the neighbouring Tanzania as
brand awareness will increase. We expect rapid growth in the near future
due to robust growth of the economy which will lead to more employment
opportunities for the region and direct contribution to the Country’s GDp.
Lastly, I would like to state that we are indeed committed to offering quality
and lifestyle transformation solutions that impact people’s lives positively
through continuous innovation of latest products and services. This journey
has been a success due to unrivalled support from customers who have
remained true to the brand, the Board of Directors for their continued
support and hardworking members of staff who have dedicated their
energy to offer professional services. Let us all together continue pulling in
one direction to propel this company further.
