Imagine a place where
prospective home owners
can tinker with colors and
finishes before settling on
the interior look and feel that
best titillates their fashion
palates. You are thinking
of the new state-of-the art
showroom unveiled by Crown
Paints in August.
The showroom, located at
Muthithi Place in Westlands,
Nairobi, is home to the latest
innovations in paints and interior
finishes. It also features a colour
visualizer that simulates room
sets and enables customers
explore various color schemes
applied in varying settings.
Designed as a one stop color
expression centre, you can
experience a virtual tour of the
room while ‘splashing’ different
paints on ‘furniture’, ‘floors’ and
‘walls’ on a large touch screen
before making an informed
choice. One can literally create
their home or office ambience
with a few clicks on the screen.
Leading interior designers and
architects graced the opening
ceremony. They hailed the
showroom as a trail blazer in the
construction industry.
“These will definitely raise
the bar in quality standards in
the construction space,” said
architect Gathecha Waweru,
chairman of the Architectural
Association of Kenya who was
the chief guest at the cocktail
ceremony.
Often, prospective owners rely
on advice from fundis and friends
before deciding on the paint and
finish to be used in the living
room, kitchen, bedroom and
bathroom. But with the launch
of the new showroom by Crown
Paints, one can now experiment
with colours in a more or less
real life setting. The showroom
also showcases designer
fashion finishes, textured
finishes, Italian design marbles
and quartz from Kalingastone,
waterproofing and construction
chemicals. Crown Paints
Director Hussein Ramji says the
company focuses heavily on
innovation and the showroom is
about quality and creativity.
“We have invested in putting
up a showroom that reflects our
strong heritage in innovation
and quality products.
Consumers in Kenya’s
property market have become
quite sophisticated and are
demanding more quality
products. Crown is responding
to the growing need for quality
products,” notes Ramji.
The Kenyan property market
has been rapidly evolving with
a burgeoning middle class keen
on the latest fashion trends.
The number of residential and
commercial developments
targeting mostly the middle and
upper-income bracket has also
risen. This has in turn boosted
demand for high-quality paints
and finishes - a space Crown is
keen on exploiting.
“For the discerning property
owner who wants to give his or
her home and office a classy
look and feel, our showroom
is essentially the first port of
call,” says Shrinal Patel, an
experienced interior designer
who leads the team of experts
at the showroom.
