Product Description

This versatile product, based on high quality internally-plasticised emulsion, is designed for use as an ADMIXTURE for use with sand cement renderings and as a BONDING AGENT for direct application to the substrate.

Admixture: Bondcrete is designed for use with sand/cement mixes for the following purposes:

  • Increasing the waterproofing properties of concrete floors and internal/external plaster/renderings; increasing the tensile strength of concrete floor screeds and walls; improving the dustproof characteristics of concrete and granolithic floor screeds.
  • When used as an admixture Bondcrete will also improve the bonding characteristics of concrete or plaster or cement slurry wall surfaces. When used with sand and cement the mixture can also be used for making good damaged concrete and for filling cracks in wall surfaces.

Bonding agent:

When applied direct to the substance, before plastering or laying floors, Bondcrete will considerably improve adhesion enabling thinner films to be applied than would normally be possible. Particularly suitable for use on old, damaged and porous wall and floor surfaces and on rough and uneven substrates prior to leveling.

Directions for use:

Plaster: For bonding new plaster to adsorbent surfaces prime the substrate with a mixture of Bondcrete and water, mixed in a ratio of 1/4. Brush well in and allow to dry. Coat with a further application mixed with 2 parts Bondcrete to 1 part water. Apply new plaster while still tacky.

To improve the adhesion, strength and finish of the plaster, use a 1-part Bondcrete and 4 parts water solution for mixing purposes.

Cement: For bonding sand/cement renderings and floor screeds to smooth concrete, brick, terrazzo etc., prime the substrate with a mixture of 1 part Bondcrete to 4 parts water. Brush well in and allow to dry. Coat with 2 parts Bondcrete and 1 part water and while still tacky, apply rendering or screed to a maximum thickness of 9mm.

For render thickness in excess of 9mm, prime as above and allow to dry. Prepare a mixture of 2 parts washed sand to 1 part cement. Wet down with 1 part Bondcrete and 1 part water and apply as slurry with a 6mm notched trowel. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours before applying rendering.

For repairing damaged concrete, prime the substrate with 1 part Bondcrete to 4 parts water and allow to dry. Coat with 2 parts Bondcrete to 1 part water solution and while still tacky make good with a sand/cement mix incorporating 1 part Bondcrete to 4 parts water.

Floor screeds can be very substantially increased in strength by the addition of Bondcrete. To increase resistance to wear by abrasion or impact, mix cement/sand with 1 part Bondcrete to 3 parts water.

For fixing quarry and terrazzo tiles, Bondcrete can be used to improve adhesion. Prime the surface with 1 part Bondcrete to 4 parts water, brush well in and allow to dry. Coat floor and base of tiles with 2 parts Bondcrete to 1 part water solution. While still tacky, apply sand/cement bedding to base and bed tiles.

Bondcrete can also be used to dustproof existing concrete floors by mixing 1 part Bondcrete to 5 parts water and brushing well into the surface. One or two coats should be applied.
