Crown Paints Plc CEO, Dr. Rakesh Rao gave a keynote speech during the BORAQ Annual Conference at Safari Park Hotel on 18th May 2023. During the function, Crown Paints unveiled the new Premium Granite Paint product to the attendees.
The event whose aim was to inform and educate practicing professionals, was attended by key players in the construction industry including Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Engineers, Technicians, Students, Contractors, and Developers are among the key players.
While giving his keynote speech, Dr. Rakesh Rao recognized the importance of taxation for the economic stability of the country. He urged the government to put policies in place that protect and promote local manufacturers to enhance growth.
He acknowledged that the sector has faced complex challenges in the recent past as it struggles to meet high demands, and fluctuating buying patterns as people’s purchasing power is greatly affected due to the long effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and high cost of living.
Dr. Rakesh Rao said that Manufacturers are facing serious challenges to remain operational since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic coupled with the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He appealed to the government to address economic crises like supply chain, high cost of labor, and rising gas prices to save the sector.
In conclusion, he said that the conflict in Europe has greatly affected local manufacturers as the cost of materials continues to rise. Hence the sector has been forced to take swift action to offset inflation and maintain profitability. He posed this question in his concluding remarks “How exactly does inflation affect manufacturing, and what actions do manufacturers need to make to help limit the financial impacts on the industry as a whole?”

During the event, Crown Paints relaunched its premium product which was initially launched in 2021. In this premium product, crown paints partnered with 3 Trees, a leader in China, that was also accredited with the best paint in the Olympics 2022.
The New Premium Granite Paint that was relaunched will have 4 finishes:
- Water in Water Litchi Surface: This has the roughest texture. No limitations in color options
- Water in Water Plane: This is smooth in finish. No limitations in color options
- Sand in Water Litchi Surface: This has the second roughest texture. No limitations in color options
- Sand in Water tiny color: This is between Sand in the water litchi surface and water in the water plane.
