Crown Paints wins FKE Award for Innovation & Productivity

Crown Paints Kenya PLC have emerged winners of the coveted Innovations & Productivity Award at the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) “Employer of the Year Awards” held at the Villa Rosa Kempinski on 19 May, 2017. The University of Nairobi and General Motors East Africa Ltd were the 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively in the category. The company was also shortlisted as finalists in categories including Corporate Performance, Work-place Environment, and Effective Human Resource Practices & Industrial Relations.

The FKE Employer of the Year Awards seek to fete organisations that see people at the core of their businesses and have implemented policies, systems and processes which create and sustain productivity, industrial peace and harmony. FKE, established in 1959, is the premier employer’s organization in Kenya and represents the collective interest of employers in the country.

This is the third time Crown Paints has received accolades for Innovation & Productivity, having won this category amongst others at the Kenya Institute of Management OPI COYA Awards in 2016, in addition to winning the overall Company of the Year Award.

“The company has nurtured a culture of innovation and productivity and has established product development mechanisms and process improvement by ensuring rigorous idea evaluation and implementation, all linked to recognition and reward,” said Mr. Rakesh Rao, Crown Paints Group CEO. “At Crown Paints, all levels of employees and partners are integrated into productivity and quality improvement programmes,” he added.

Crown Paints recently become the first paint manufacturer in the region to introduce a comprehensive loyalty program targeted at painters. The loyalty program dubbed Team Kubwa is administered via a digital app and the company’s Call Centre, where painters can register for rewards, special offers and skill development training. Crown Paints also launched a new range of textured finishes, the Italia Series, in line with its commitment to offer innovative products in the East African region. Easy to apply, this highly affordable range of four finishes aims to make the joy of colour and stylish interiors available to a much wider market. Unlike other textured finishes that are more complex to apply, Crown Italia Series does not require specialized painter skills and can even be applied as a DIY finish by homeowners and decorating enthusiasts.

The East African paint manufacturer is known for its high quality, value-based products and services. Listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange, it operates through an extensive network of dealers and showrooms in all major cities and towns in Kenya.
