Are you ready to give your space an updated look? Crown Paints has launched a new series of Italia finishes to give your space that in with the new look, which can be a D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) finish or you can get the assistance of an expert painter to carry out the job for you. The Italia range of finishes launched are the Italia Uno (stone textured wall paint), Italia Uno+ (metallic stone textured paint), Italia Due (duotone metallic textured wall paint) and Italia Wow (Snow textured paint enhancer).
In this write up the focus is on Italia Wow, which is an evolution formula from the Italian textured wall paint series that enhances the solid colour of your walls with snow-textured effect, in either white flakes or gold flakes. Italia Wow is a complete ecological water based texture paint with ease in handling and application. This texture enables the user to remain with their favourite solid colour of the wall yet give out an astonishing textured effect to each individual, as per their own choice lifestyle and taste.
Crown Italia Wow can be used for decorative interior walls, ceilings, and brickwork and cement boards. The end finish after application of this product will be a snow texture finish (Ref image 1&2). Remember you can either choose to work with the solid colour you already have existing on you walls, or you can select from one of the many colour options available from the fan deck (interior emulsion) for the base of this texture.
If you want to take this up as a D.I.Y project, here are a few pointers to keep in mind:
- Surface must be sound and clean, dry and free from all defective or poorly adhering materials, dirt, grease or wax. To have better finish, rub down surface using suitable abrasive and dust off.
- If your surface has been previously painted, remove all loose, defective and unstable paint film or powdery residue by brushing thoroughly and scraping. Repair minor defects and cracks if any with a suitable filler.
The method of application is very simple and like most textured finishes it is a form of art;
- Apply 2 coats of any interior emulsion paint by roller. Ensure the 1st coat is thoroughly dry (2) hours before application of the 2nd Allow this to further dry (3hours) before applying the Italia Wow Neutral coat.
Apply 1 coat of the Italia Wow Neutral coat with a brush by using either method 1 – cross X strokes (Ref image 3) or Method 2-Arch strokes (Ref image 4). Repeat this step to complete the decoration on the entire wall surface.
Italia Wow is an effect that you can use on all your walls as it is a subtle paint enhancer, or it can be used to create a feature wall in your space. If you’re thinking of redecorating or want to give a room a new look, creating a feature wall is a really easy way to create a fresh feel without the bother and expense of redecorating the whole room.
For those who don’t know what a feature wall is, feature walls are most often used when the rest of the room is decorated with a fairly neutral colour. You pick a wall in the room and paint it a different colour, or bring make it stand out with a bold pattern, creating a feature.

A feature wall can also be used to create a more defined space in an open-plan area. If you have children you might create a play area, or in a living-diner you might highlight the dining area or fire place wall (Ref image 5).
