Whether you are looking forward to do something new with your room or to pass time , painting stripes on your home walls will definitely raise the mood. Horizontal stripes make the room look spacious while vertical stripes make the walls seem higher. Stripes add that oomph to the room. First of all you will have to choose the wall to paint and then visit the Crown showroom and your preferred hardware store. You can also download the Crown Colour application on your mobile phone. This application will help with colour identification and scheming.
Tools needed for the painting; tape measure or ruler , a roller or brush, level or L-ruler ( this depends on how straight your walls are), tape , primer, polyfilla (for cracks), base coat and Crown Paint. The primer, brush, polyfilla and paint can be ordered online or bought at your nearest crown showroom.
The preferred colour not only depends on your personal taste but also on other factors( see < insert link on factors to consider on choosing a wall colour>here)
.
Once you have made a choice on the wall to be painted and the colour, put your gloves on. You can prepare you wall by scrubbing , applying polyfilla and the primer. This depends on the conditions of the walls before hand. Measure the width of your stripes using the tape measure and level. You will then start taping your wall along the marking. Have a steady hand and make sure your stripes are straight. The tape of your choice should be able to prevent bleeding of the paint. You can now start painting your walls. Also tape the adjacent walls to prevent them from having wet paint.
Begin by painting from the top so as not to paint your clothes too ! Since you want stripes the paint should be alternating that is leaving gaps in between. The tapes should be removed before the paint dries so as to avoid cracks. Once it is dry you now have a striped wall. Fancy, right?
If you find all these quite a struggle , you can hire the Crown Decorator Service.
