How To Keep Your Car Paint Looking Fresh

We all want our cars to have that new paint look it had when you bought it. This means doing everything you can to avoid fading if you can manage to stay incident free on our roads today. Sure, paint will fade, but there are steps you can take to prolong the fading process and keep your car looking nice longer.

One thing you need to do is understand what causes the colour to fade. The most well-known contributor to paint fade is ultra-violet rays (sunlight). Pollutants and other chemical and biochemical residue also contribute to fading. Once you know the causes behind it, you will be able to stop the colour from fading too soon.

When it comes to washing your car, always use the right detergents. Make sure it is an auto-mobile detergent and that it will have no corrosive ingredients that will cost the paint to chip. Before washing your car, keep your car out of direct sunlight. Paint should be cool to the touch before you apply any cleaning product.

It’s also important to spray your car down with water before washing. This will spray off any dirt and other particles that could scratch your car if you start cleaning it with a sponge or cloth. Wash and rinse your car in sections so that the soap doesn’t dry on the paint before it can be washed off.

To keep the paint looking fresh, polish/wax once a month. Waxing your car is one of the most important things you can do to protect your new paint job. Waxing should be done right after you have cleaned and polished your car it also prevents cracking and chipping due to very direct sunlight.

You can also keep your paint job looking good by parking your vehicle in the shade. This will keep the body cool at all times. If you can’t find a shade, you should invest in a car cover and ensure you use it every time the car is parked.

Your car colour will eventually fade; you can’t fool time in this case. But it should be a gradual phase that allows you to save up for a new paint job. Take good care of your car and it should take longer for you to stress out over a faint colour job on your car.
