Good Morning,
Sometimes your home needs a whole new look. When it comes time to make the changes, you need to call in the professionals. There are many factors to consider before deciding who you will trust enough to let them redesign your home.
1. Can communicate and work smoothly with you.
An interior decorator will be spending a lot of time in your home with you. You have to make sure he/she has great interpersonal and communication skills and has a good reputation with clients. If they can’t communicate well and express their ideas, you should avoid working with them.
They should be someone you can sit and work well with without any conflict arising. He should be able to take in your ideas, interpret and explain why they can’t work clearly.
2. Has an impressive portfolio and clientele.
You can judge how good an interior decorator is based on their portfolio and clientele. It doesn’t matter what education they have, work experience matters most. Look at the people who hire him/her, look at pictures of the work they have done, their skill should be evident in all this.
3. Well-connected and has plenty of sources for affordable materials
When designing your home, the most important thing is to stick to your budget. Work with an interior designer who acknowledges this and is keen on meeting your targets without a lot of compromise. . He should have contacts who can give him everything he needs to transform your home on your budget.
He should know enough suppliers to get all that is needed on time to keep the work flowing within the given timeframe. But you should check to see if the people providing the material are giving you something of top notch quality.
4. Has been working as an interior designer for a number of years
A season decorator is the best choice. Experience is the one thing you can use to make your decision on which interior decorator to work with. They have gained a lot of experience and knowledge that they will deliver more than what you are looking for.
Someone who has been working for a long time will know how to anticipate and deal with any problems. He will be able to work with minimum supervision and make decorating your home a fun experience.
5. An excellent supervisor and manager
An interior designer is also a manager of sorts. He/she has to oversee the project from start to finish. He selects the pieces to use, makes sure they are delivered on time and supervises workers working on the project. You need someone who can do all this effectively. It should be someone who knows what is needed and will deliver it.
